I received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel and then an M.D. from Temple. I served two years in the U.S. Public Health Service on the Cheyenne River Sioux reservation in South Dakota. Returned East for an anesthesiology residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, along with Clinical Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, followed by Instructor in Anesthesia at Harvard. I was Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at Boston University School of Medicine, and now have that title and teach at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. I have been in private practice in the anesthesia subspecialty of pain medicine in Phoenix, ArizonZ since 1980; have been on task forces for the state legis- lature and the Board of Pharmacy regarding pain medicine issues; and am the founding president of the Arizona Pain Society. Ruth and I have been married for 40 years, have three grandchildren, and enjoy Maine in the summer.
