|||||||||
The earliest example of an American photograph by Joseph Saxton was made in 1839 of... Central High School of Philadelphia, according to this historical acknowledgement found on Chestnut Street near Broad. Saxton used the Frenchman DaGuerre model of the glass plate camera for his work. Examples of the first photograph of the CHS building can be seen in this photo gallery, in the CHS Archives office and on various CHS award plaques. (Photo, A. Hirsh) |
